Do You Know What You Really Need?

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”– Mae West

Yes, the one thing you need to know is that this is your one chance… get out there and live like there is no tomorrow because in the end we really don’t know if there will be a tomorrow. This is by no means about being irresponsible, no!

My talks, books and coaching sessions are more about self-awareness. If you know yourself, you save yourself from unnecessary pains resulting from wrong pursuits. Knowing yourself, in terms of your strengths, passions, natural abilities is what will help you optimise on the right things and make you achieve more while you are enjoying this journey called life.

The worst thing in life is waking up old one day and realizing that you became so good at the wrong things. The realization that you optimized for the wrong things is the worst thing that can ever happen to you. Just imagine mastering the art of procrastinating, complaining, blaming, not taking full responsibility for you and holding grudges. These dream killers/distractions take so much of your precious time and energy that you end up having little or no time left to do what you were born to do. When I spoke to the group of university students who aspire to be entrepreneurs, this past Friday, I emphasized the following important point: A man was not born just to make his living but to live his making because living his making will make him a living. This simply means that you were born to live your making – express your gifts, talents, natural abilities and strengths, this in turn makes you a decent living. To me, Veli Ndaba, there are two purposes of life: 1. To find your making – who you are and 2. To live your making.

You need to undertake a journey in studying, observing, listening and even asking for feedback from others to understand yourself better, it’s a life-time journey, no short cuts. When you understand yourself better you don’t get so much entangled in the matrix of life because you’re clear of your path.

To summarize what I’ve said above: The secret to a good living is to do what you HAVE TO as QUICKLY as you can so as to do what you WANT TO for as long as you can. Yes, to those who truly believe, all things are possible!
