“You can’t keep dancing with the devil and ask why you’re still in hell.” – Unknown
Most people have given up on their dreams claiming no one is willing nor will help them get ahead in life. I find that sometimes when you do not get the answers to your questions it is either because you are asking the wrong questions or because you are asking the wrong people. The wrong person will have you thinking that you are really asking for too much, when it’s really them who can’t offer you that much.
We all have families, friends, colleagues and co-worshippers, etc. These are people we love, appreciate their opinions and trust to varying degrees. One of the major mistakes we make as a people is to introject or swallow whole their opinions about our dreams or what we want to pursue in life. So many dreams have been shattered by asking the right questions to the wrong people. If you want to become a doctor you need to seek advice from someone who is a doctor not a mechanic or an engineer. If you want to own a catering business seek advice from someone who has a track record of running a catering business not a lawyer or plumber.
As a life-coach and motivational speaker, people often ask me what must they do to get out of their misery or stuck state? On asking them few questions, it becomes crystal clear that they were asking wrong questions altogether or right questions to the wrong people. Most often than not we ask our families, colleagues, fellow-worshippers, spouses, etc. about how to become a millionaire and yet none of these people were ever millionaires. It is impossible for someone who is at the same level or below you to raise you higher than where you are. To grow and move higher than your current level you need someone who is higher than you in that area of life you want to improve on. This person can only lift you higher up to where they are. My advice to you is to seek advice from people based on their expertise not because of how much you love, respect and appreciate them. If you want to be a professional speaker, a medical doctor will not be knowledgeable in that area, so stop wasting your time asking them, instead ask a credible professional speaker and learn from them. Stop planting flowers in people’s yards who aren’t going to water them.
