“When you have clarity of intention, the universe conspires with you to make it happen.”– Fabienne Fredrickson
Every morning you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams. Or wake up and chase them. We are living in the world where instant results are the order of the day. Most people are trapped in this myth that there’s no time to wait, results are needed now! Life has taught me this invaluable lesson: ‘There is no enough time for everything but there’s enough time for the most important things,’ Wow, this helped me stay focused.
There’s no way everything can be equally important, if you find yourself in that situation, seek for help urgently. I am certain you have heard of the saying that human-beings are creatures of habits – meaning we are what we do most of the time. This is the measure clue of how we produce results, by what we do ‘MOST OF THE TIME’. So, are you aware of what you spend most of your time doing? That should be a good start for any rewarding life. Awareness is critical because it leads to self-introspection.
Now, from the above, we can safely say that intention leads to behaviours which lead to habits which lead to personality development which leads to destiny. Intentions themselves do not directly produce results but trigger a set of actions which then produce results ‘over a period of time’, not instantly. This ‘over a period of time’ is linked to ‘right behaviour’, proper planning, relevant skills, deliberate and consistent action, patience and focus. Most people always think the deck is stacked against them, while the reality is that they are missing basic critical steps.
Since we know that we are habitual beings, ours is to develop good habits that are in line with the results we want to produce in our lives. To change the results you are producing, you must first change your habits. To change your habits, you must firstly know what they are because you can’t change what you don’t know. Intention, therefore, helps you create a picture/vision of what you want which will then lead you to define the kind of habits/routines you need to develop in order to achieve it. Habits/Routines are drivers of results. You may have good intentions but without qualified drivers to take you to your destination, you will be lost forever. This is what I help people do by my coaching sessions, to help them identify their habits that are sabotaging their good intentions.
Remember, we don’t have enough time for everything but we do have enough time for the most important things in our lives! So, what are your top three important things in your life right now? And what habits do they require you to develop? A habit can take about sixty six days on average to develop, this is by the way according to the study done at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
So, to get whatever you want in life: Be intentional about it, identify the habits required to produce it, plan properly, take deliberate and consistent action and then be obsessed with it. Until you are obsessed about something, you will never master it!
