What Inspires You To Change?

“Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” – Mandy Hale
There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as an author, speaker and life coach who spends his time as an engineer in a manufacturing plant. There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as a singer and song writer who spends his time as a teller at the bank or even as a medical doctor. There’s nothing as painful and frustrating as a farmer who spends his time as an accountant for a global accounting firm. My friend, the pain and frustration doesn’t come from what you are doing but mainly what you are not doing.
The question you should be asking yourself now is, ‘Have I become comfortable with my discomforts? Am I comforting what I am supposed to be confronting?’ How do I change the situation? Change comes from inspiration or desperation. I am inspired by people who change from what others see as ideal to pursue their callings, yes, their heart desires. I changed from engineering to be a professional speaker, author, coach and entrepreneur. I found freedom, that’s a long and short of it.
Vinnie Kapoor, was a top performer in her team at American Express, she quit her secure job to become a makeup artist. She said, “I am relieved that instead of being stuck in a boring, grey office dealing with money and investments, I am bringing beauty into people’s lives.” It’s these real life stories of people who listened to their hearts that inspire me. I am also inspired by people who just don’t live for themselves, who always think of how to improve and help other human- beings in whatever way they can. Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Patrice Motsepe are the names that immediately come to mind.
For me, writing these weekly articles is one of my contributions to mankind, it inspires me and make me happy.  What inspires you? What are you doing to make life bearable for others? Or is it just all about you? Maybe it’s time you change your perspective and remember, if doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you.
