What Is Your Fear?

“Through every generation of the human race there has been a constant war, a war with fear. Those who have the courage to conquer it are made free and those who are conquered by it are made to suffer until they have the courage to defeat it, or death takes them.” – Alexander the Great
Fear is the horse running around in your brain and if you don’t throw a saddle on it and ride it, it will kill you. Fear is the most subtle and the most destructive of all human diseases. Most people never develop courage to defeat it and live their whole lives captured by it.
I would like to share with you three things that helped me develop courage to defeat this fear. Firstly, let me clarify this: Fear will always be there but it’s about being fearless. Fearless means fear less, which is to have more control over your fear rather than the other way round.  Now, my three things:

  1. Our lives are a gift from God and how we live them is our gift to God. This made me realise that I wasn’t born to be conquered but to conquer and make Him happy. I looked at my life, having tragically lost my parents and loved ones at an early age and looked at the trials and tribulations I went through, all I saw was his mercy and grace over my life. This made me want to thank him more by being the best that I could ever be, not by just merely reading the bible every day, going to church every Sunday and telling everybody around how much I love Him, but by developing myself to be a person of substance to make a positive difference and impact in the world. So, would you proudly say that the way you live your life is a great way to say thank you to him for his grace and mercy over your life?
  2. “Never worry about the cost of a shovel when you’re digging for gold”. Property Guru, Mark Dalton. Most people always say developing yourself is expensive. They never invest in books, seminars, workshops, coaching, classes and their wonder why they are not attracting good things. Warren Buffet, one of the richest people in the world said the best investment you can ever make is in yourself. I took heed of this and I started not worrying about the cost of the shovel and today I am attracting great things I never dreamt of. So, stop worrying about the cost of a shovel.
  3. There’s good and bad fear. Good fear keeps you focused, dedicated, looking forward to tomorrow with excitement and committed to your commitments. Bad fear on the other hand distracts you, makes you negative, and steals your peace of mind and happiness. So, what is your fear? Mine is to die having never lived, it drives me to develop myself every day in order to make a positive impact in the world.
