What Kind of an Example Are You?

“Being a good example is the best form of service.” – Sathya Sai Baba
There’s an African proverb that says, “Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt.” Though this proverb may have different interpretations, in this instance, it means don’t take advise from someone who don’t know what they are doing. For example, be careful of taking instructions for fixing your computer from someone who has never used a computer before.
Being a good example is a good form of service. This requires authenticity which is a thread that keeps together every action you take. By this I mean, being a good example shouldn’t depend on what time of the day it is, nor what day of the week, month and year. Being a good example of what ‘commitment’ is does not depend how you feel on a particular day, it’s something you adopt as a way of life, it is your lifestyle. Choose to be a good example of what it means to be a good example.
I just want you to pretend you were being recorded as a model by which your children and grandchildren will learn how to succeed in life and be the best human beings they can be. Would you continue the way you live your life right now or would it need a complete overhaul? The best way to live your life is to commit to greatness and be a good example to others. Never reduce a target. Instead, increase actions. Any target attacked with the right actions in the right amounts with persistence is attainable. Make no excuses, and adopt a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude.
Are you a naked person that offers others a shirt? Are you the kind of person whose advice has to be taken with a pinch of salt? Or Are you a good example that kids and adults’ alike look at and say, “Wow, I want to be like him/her,”?
Remember, you are unique and special simply because no one is like you in the whole world, so being authentic to who you are will bring out that specialness in you. You have the power to ignite the spark of hope within others. I believe in you and your abilities, let’s do this!!
